Education & Science
For a long time, governments have funded schools to educate students to believe in the big bang and that everything in this world came to exist through natural processes over a long time via evolution.
Governments don't generally admit that what they're actually teaching in science curriculum is religion in itself and it involves faith in historic processes that are sight-unseen, not reproducible in a laboratory, and also lacking much evidence, but it is taught anyway.
The below quotation from Dr Michael Ruse:
"Evolution is promoted by it's practitioners as more than mere science. Evolution is promulgated as an ideology, a secular religion - a full-fledged alternative to Christianity with meaning and morality...
Evolution is a religion.
This was true of evolution in the beginning and is true of evolution still today."
Dr Michael Ruse, Department of Philosophy at the University of Guelph in Ontario, from his article "Saving Darwinism from the Darwinians" in the National Post, May 13, 2000, p. B-3
One BIG problem with evolutionary theory is that if creatures have evolved over a very very long period, there should be vast numbers of intermediate forms in the rock layers, but they're missing.

Where does all this lead?
All religions have outcomes, and this religion of "Everything came by chance" necessarily leads to hopelessness and meaninglessness. So if everything actually came by chance then:
Richard Dawkins wrote a book called "River out of Eden, A Darwinian View of Life", and I quote it below:
In a universe of electrons and selfish genes, blind physical forces and genetic replication, some people are going to get hurt, other people are going to get lucky, and you won't find any rhyme or reason in it, nor any justice. The universe that we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but pitiless indifference. (page 133)
If that is true, then:
This is the nature of the government-funded religion being taught in schools and universities that is actually destroying our society.
- There is no actual meaning and purpose to anything, we are all just products of random events.
- Right and wrong is only a construct, it isn't real, there's literally no good, and no evil

If that is true, then:
- Why not step all over people on the way to the top?
- Why not exploit people for all you can get?
- Why not enjoy yourself at the expense of others?
- Why bother caring for others?
- Why be honest?
This is the nature of the government-funded religion being taught in schools and universities that is actually destroying our society.
The way out
Unlike the religion above, Christianity, based on timeless truths passed down through ancient documents, declares there to be a creator who made all things, who is in control of all things, and who knows every detail about us, and who wants to us to be in a restored relationship with him.
Unlike the religion above, Christianity declares that everything is here for a reason, part of the plan and purposes of God, and we need to understand those plans and purposes, especially the part where he tells us to turn away from our sin and cling to his Son Jesus to be eternally saved from the destruction that is coming.
